Explore Cornwall
There’s plenty to explore beyond Falmouth, from dramatic coastlines and historic landmarks to scenic harbour towns and must-see attractions. Here are some of our favourite day trips for discovering the best of Cornwall.

Minack Theatre
A cliffside amphitheatre with panoramic sea views, this one-of-a-kind venue offers daytime visits and live performances in the most dramatic of settings. Whether you're there for a show or just to take it all in, it's a must-see.
Top Tip: Pack something comfy to sit on, the stone seats are beautiful but not exactly soft!

St Ives
Known for its creative buzz and gorgeous beaches, St Ives has a real charm. Explore winding streets, art galleries, and sea views at every turn. It’s easy to spend a full day just soaking it all in.
Top Tip: Hop on the train from St Erth, it’s scenic, stress-free, and avoids tricky parking.

Watergate Bay
A vast stretch of sand backed by cliffs, perfect for surfing or just watching the waves roll in. With cafés, bars, and beachside dining, it's a great spot to spend an afternoon by the sea.
Top Tip: Stay for sunset and grab a table at The Beach Hut for a relaxed meal with front-row views.

Eden Project
A world-famous eco attraction with huge glass biomes that transport you into lush rainforests and Mediterranean gardens. There’s plenty to learn and loads for kids too.
Top Tip: Book ahead online, it's often cheaper and helps skip the queues.

Caerhays Castle
Tucked into a wooded valley near the sea, Caerhays offers peaceful gardens and a fairy-tale castle backdrop. It's especially magical in spring when the rare plant collection bursts into bloom.
Top Tip: Time your visit for mid-spring to see the camellias and magnolias at their best.

St Michael’s Mount
Walk across the tidal causeway to this castle-topped island and explore its historic grounds and lush gardens. A memorable mix of sea, history and legend.
Top Tip: Always check the tide times, you don’t want to get caught out and miss the crossing!

Fowey
A lovely little harbour town full of independent shops, cafés, and boat trips. Ideal for a slow wander and a waterside lunch.
Top Tip: Take the ferry across to Polruan for even better views back across the harbour.

Padstow
Buzzing with harbour life and known for its excellent seafood, Padstow is a lively place with great coastal paths and a friendly atmosphere.
Top Tip: Rent bikes and ride the Camel Trail from Wadebridge, flat, easy, and scenic.

Kynance Cove
Famous for its turquoise water and dramatic cliffs, Kynance is a breathtaking spot that really delivers on the ‘wow’ factor. Best seen at low tide when the beach opens up fully.
Top Tip: Get there early in peak season, parking is limited and it gets busy fast.

Looe Island
This quiet, protected island is only reachable by boat and offers a nature-rich, peaceful escape from the mainland. A great trip for those who like things a bit wilder.
Top Tip: Check sailing times in advance, trips are limited and depend on weather and tides.

Tintagel Castle
Perched high above the sea, this dramatic ruin is full of atmosphere and ancient stories. Whether or not you believe the Arthurian legends, the setting is unforgettable.
Top Tip: Be ready for steep steps, the climb is worth it for the views alone.

Port Isaac
Tucked into a steep cove on Cornwall’s north coast, Port Isaac is a charming fishing village with winding streets, sea views, and stacks of character. It’s a peaceful spot to explore, known for its traditional harbour and slate-fronted cottages.
Top Tip: Stop for seafood at one of the harbour front restaurants, just be sure to book ahead, especially in summer.
